On April 8, 2025, Bangladesh became the 54th country to sign the Artemis Accords, committing to the safe, peaceful, and sustainable exploration of space. The signing ceremony took place in Dhaka, where Ashraf Uddin, the secretary of defense, signed on behalf of Bangladesh. NASA acting Administrator Janet Petro praised the move, calling it a step toward shaping the future of space exploration through collaboration and transparency. Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus noted that this commitment will strengthen the nation’s partnership with NASA and the global space community. The Artemis Accords, launched in 2020 by NASA, the U.S. Department of State, and other founding nations, aim to promote responsible space activity based on existing international space treaties and best practices.
