Myanmar has officially confirmed that 180,000 Rohingya refugees currently residing in Bangladesh are eligible to return home, signaling the first concrete step toward repatriation since the crisis began. This announcement came during a high-level meeting between officials from both countries at the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok. Bangladesh had previously submitted a list of 800,000 Rohingyas in six batches between 2018 and 2020, with the verification process still ongoing for an additional 70,000 individuals. Myanmar has also provided assurances that the remaining names on the list will be reviewed without delay.
