In Brahmanbaria's Akhaura upazila, a tragic incident unfolded in Anandapur village when 19-year-old Md. Siam confessed to the brutal murder of his mother, Nasima Akhtar. The confession was made in the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Asma Jahan Nipa, where Siam admitted that his mother’s protective nature and her tendency to restrict his movements had driven him to commit the crime. "My mother loved me a lot and wouldn't let me go anywhere, so I killed her out of stubbornness," he stated.
The murder occurred while Nasima was asleep. Siam first attacked her with a chehite, a sharp tool, but when she survived the initial assault, he used a baton to finish the act. After the murder, Siam remained beside his mother's lifeless body, pretending to mourn and accusing relatives of killing her over a land dispute. However, his seven-year-old nephew, Faruk, exposed the truth, revealing that his uncle had killed his grandmother.
On the morning of February 14, Nasima's husband, Mizan Molla, returned home from the mosque after Fajr prayers and discovered his wife’s body lying in a pool of blood on the bed. He immediately informed the police, who arrested Siam following an initial investigation. Siam then confessed to the murder, detailing how he acted out of anger and frustration over being repeatedly brought back home whenever he tried to leave.
Local UP member Musa Mia mentioned that Siam had mental health challenges and a habit of leaving home without permission. His mother's protective instincts often led to conflicts between them. Following his court confession, Siam was sent to jail, while Nasima’s body underwent an autopsy at the District Sadar Hospital morgue.
