Following a court order, the Mumbai police removed more than 1,100 loudspeakers from various mosques in an effort to uphold noise pollution regulations. In response, several mosques across the city have embraced modern technology to ensure the Islamic call to prayer, or azaan, continues to reach the faithful. Many have begun using a mobile application called OnlineAzan, which was initially developed in Tamil Nadu to assist individuals living far from mosques. In neighborhoods like Maharashtra Nagar, some residents have even installed speakers inside their homes that are directly connected to nearby mosques, allowing them to hear the azaan clearly. Noor Masjid in Cheeta Camp was the first to implement this innovative solution, and others—such as Sunni Badi Masjid—soon followed after learning about the initiative through Mahim Masjid.
