Mob murder of Renu gets justice: death for 1, life sentenced for 4

A Dhaka court has issued a verdict in the murder case of Taslima Begum Renu, who was tragically killed by a mob in Badda in July 2019. The court sentenced Ibrahim, also known as Hridoy Mollah, to death, while Riya Begum Moyna, Abul Kalam Azad, Kamal Hossain, and Asadul Islam received life sentences. Judge Mohammad Morshed Alam of the Sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court announced the decision. Taslima Begum Renu, a 40-year-old single mother of two, had gone to the Uttar Badda Government Primary School on July 20, 2019, to inquire about the admission process. However, a mob brutally beat her to death outside the school gate, mistakenly believing she was a child abductor.
