Mirpur-10 and Kazipara metro stations, which were vandalized during the anti-discrimination student movement on 18 July, have reopened much earlier than expected. Although initial estimates by DMTCL and government officials projected a year for repairs and a cost of Tk 300 crore, the stations became operational within just over two months. Advisor Faizul Kabir Khan clarified that Tk 1.25 crore was spent on restoring Mirpur-10 and over Tk 20 lakh on Kazipara. Temporary equipment transfers from other stations facilitated the quick reopening, with Tk 18.86 crore planned for replacements. The reopening defies earlier projections from the then-prime minister and transport minister, who expressed concerns about the extent of damage and lengthy repair timelines.
