One year ago today, Bangladesh witnessed one of its darkest tragedies when a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into Milestone School and College.
Among the victims was Maherin Chowdhury (44), a coordinator at the school, who suffered 100% burn injuries while helping at least 20 students escape the burning building. She later succumbed to her injuries at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS).
For her extraordinary courage and selfless sacrifice, Maherin Chowdhury was posthumously awarded the Swadhinata Padak. One year later, her bravery and legacy continue to inspire the nation.
