Shakhawat Ullah, an avid environmentalist from Noakhali, has dedicated six years to planting over 160,000 trees in memory of his late father, who instilled in him a deep love for nature. Motivated by a passion for preserving biodiversity and cultural heritage, Shakhawat gifts rare and endangered plants for special occasions and even fulfills unique requests, like sourcing a rare red Kadam tree. Despite facing financial struggles and a life-altering accident in 2020 that left him unable to plant trees, Shakhawat remains committed to his mission, with the help of young volunteers. Together, they focus on planting trees to combat erosion and enhance biodiversity in vulnerable areas, incorporating species from Bengali literature. Shakhawat’s ultimate goal is not just to increase tree numbers but to inspire others to safeguard nature, with his guiding motto: "As long as I live, I will plant trees."
