During former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's regime, the Savar and Aminbazar areas faced rampant violence and extortion. Following the government's fall on August 5, it was believed that peace would return, but criminal activities merely shifted. Mosharraf Hossain Musha, previously affiliated with the Awami League, has emerged as a new power in Hemayetpur-Aminbazar, targeting BNP leaders. He and his brothers allegedly control local businesses, collecting daily extortion fees from hundreds of shops. Despite the Education Ministry abolishing the school’s managing committee, Musha's brother formed a new committee. Locals reported violence against those opposing Musha's encroachment. Former truck union leader Ahmed Ali accused him of embezzling funds, leading to a decision to expel him. Musha denies all accusations, claiming he is not involved in extortion.
