On the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards on January 11, several stars drew attention to the recent fatal ICE shootings of Renee Good and Keith Porter by wearing pins reading “BE GOOD” and “ICE OUT” as they arrived at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
“This is for Renee Nicole Good, who was murdered,” Mark Ruffalo told USA TODAY while wearing a “BE GOOD” pin in tribute to her. He went on to sharply criticize President Donald Trump, saying the U.S. is “in the middle of a war with Venezuela that we illegally invaded” and arguing that the administration was disregarding international law and moral responsibility.
Ruffalo continued by calling Trump “a convicted felon” and “a convicted rapist,” adding, “He’s a pedophile. He’s the worst human being,” and expressing concern about the direction of the country. He said, “If we’re relying on this guy’s morality for the most powerful country in the world, then we’re all in a lot of trouble.”
Speaking emotionally about the moment, Ruffalo stated, “So this is for her. This is for the people in the United States who are terrorized and scared today. I know I’m one of them. I love this country. And what I’m seeing here happening is not America.”
