Chandan Das, the main accused in the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif, has been arrested by police. Saiful was killed during a violent clash at the Chattogram court premises, with video footage showing Chandan attacking him with a machete. Acting on intelligence, a joint police team apprehended him at Bhairab Junction Railway Station in Kishoreganj. The fatal incident, which took place on November 26, was triggered by unrest among supporters of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das after his bail was denied. Following the clash, Chandan went into hiding, evading capture for several days. Police eventually tracked him down and are now transferring him to Chattogram, where he will face legal proceedings in court.
