Power and Energy Advisor Muhammad Faozul Kabir Khan has stated that the government is making its highest efforts to reduce load shedding during the summer season. However, if the situation demands it, load shedding will begin in Dhaka city before affecting other regions of the country. He emphasized that, unlike in the past, load shedding will no longer be restricted to rural areas. The advisor made these comments during a briefing with journalists on Friday evening, held at the conference room of the Eastern Railway in Chattogram.
Responding to a question from reporters about the possibility of load shedding in summer, the Advisor explained that there are two key causes of electricity disruption. If electricity production falls short and the supply is deliberately interrupted, it is termed as load shedding. In contrast, if the disruption is caused by natural factors such as storms, heavy rain, blown fuses, or transformer damage, it is referred to as a power disruption rather than load shedding.
Muhammad Faozul Kabir Khan further mentioned that ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply depends on a range of circumstances. "Just as we tried to maintain uninterrupted power during Ramadan, the same level of consistency might not be achievable throughout the entire summer. But we will certainly do everything within our capacity," he said. Reiterating the earlier point, he made it clear that if load shedding becomes necessary, it will not be confined to rural areas as it had been in previous years. “If required, load shedding will begin from Dhaka and then extend gradually to other parts of the country,” he concluded.
