The Chittagong District Bar Association’s investigation committee, formed to probe the clashes and murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif on court premises, has called for a judicial inquiry by a District and Sessions Judge. The committee, led by Abdus Sattar, faced setbacks as four members resigned, hindering its work. The November 26 violence erupted after bail was denied to Chinmoy Krishna Das, leading to Alif’s brutal murder. Seven cases, including Saiful’s father’s murder case against 31 accused, have been filed, with 11 arrests made, including three key suspects who confessed.
