Clashes broke out between Chhatra Dal activists and members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on Tuesday (February 18) afternoon over demands to ban student politics. The confrontation left at least fifty people injured from both sides, with the injured receiving treatment at various hospitals.
Among the victims, Sajeedul Islam Sourav, a student of the Building Engineering and Construction Management (BECM) department, sustained critical injuries, including a fractured arm broken into three pieces. He is being transferred to Dhaka for advanced treatment.
Speaking to The Daily Campus, Sajeedul described the incident: "I was on campus when Chhatra Dal activists suddenly attacked. They entered with sticks, rods, and sharp weapons, assaulting students. My humerus bone was broken into three pieces. I’m being taken from Khulna to Dhaka for surgery scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday."
