A kitten was successfully rescued after being trapped on a beam beneath the Dhaka Elevated Expressway near the Mohakhali flyover on Sunday, March 2. The rescue operation began on the evening of Saturday, March 1, but the kitten, frightened by the attempts to reach it, kept moving further away, making the rescue efforts challenging. The team initially tried using a hydraulic ladder, followed by a second ladder, but both methods proved unsuccessful in capturing the frightened kitten.
In a bid to successfully retrieve the kitten, a trap was set, and after hours of effort, the kitten was safely captured early Sunday morning. The rescue operation saw collaboration from various parties, including the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), which deployed a hydraulic ladder to assist in the effort. A private rescue team, working independently, also joined the mission, despite facing initial obstacles, such as difficulties in obtaining the necessary permissions and equipment.
The operation involved close coordination with the fire service, which played a key role in supporting the rescue team. After several failed attempts throughout Saturday night, the rescuers decided to set up a trap and continued their efforts into the early hours of Sunday. They ensured the kitten was kept well-fed and hydrated while monitoring its condition throughout the night.
