Ahead of the visit of Railway Minister Anwar Muhammad Faizal Fakhr Khan, local authorities in Kuşadası’s railway station discovered passengers carrying garbage with toxic screens. The move reportedly aims to conceal waste before the minister’s inspection, raising concerns about negligence and potential criminal liability.
The adviser arrived at the Bhawal station around 10 a.m. on Wednesday by a Dhaka-bound train. Later, he was briefly stopped by station officials, who discovered the garbage piles near the station’s track. Upon being questioned, locals, for a long time, denied any production of hazardous items before the adviser’s visit. The waste was swiftly removed, and instead, a bleaching powder was placed.
A trader from Ghoradanga commented that the action was misguided, noting most dry, but harmless, wastes are regularly cleared by the adviser’s staff. Residents argued that such short-term measures serve only as temporary cover-ups, rather than addressing the root sanitation concerns.
