Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared “the battle begins” in a series of posts on Wednesday, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s demand for Iran’s “unconditional surrender.” Khamenei warned the "terrorist Zionist regime" and vowed “no mercy,” shortly after Iran launched ballistic missiles at Israel.
Framing the conflict as ideological, Khamenei shared an image referencing the historic Battle of Khaybar. Meanwhile, Trump, via Truth Social, claimed the U.S. controls Iranian airspace and said Khamenei is "an easy target"—but not being attacked “for now.”
Around 12:40 a.m., Iran fired at least 25 missiles toward Israel, triggering sirens nationwide and causing damage but no reported casualties. Drone alerts also sounded near the Dead Sea.
In response, Israel continued its offensive inside Iran, urging evacuations in Tehran’s District 18 and launching new airstrikes. Explosions were also reported in Karaj.
The war, now in its sixth day, has killed at least 224 people in Iran and 24 in Israel, with hundreds more injured. Israel says its campaign aims to neutralize Iran’s military and nuclear threats.
