In Khagrachhari’s Guimara upazila, 21-year-old Tayiching Marma was tragically shot dead at Ramesu Bazar, just weeks before becoming a father. His nine-months-pregnant wife, heartbroken parents, and the wider Marma community are left in grief. Known as a “Chander Gari” jeep driver, his sudden death during clashes between security forces and protesters has deeply shaken the area, leaving the local market scarred. His parents recalled that he had only stepped out to buy fuel before being caught in the gunfire, later found dead. His grieving family has pleaded for peace rather than legal battles, requesting government assistance to help his widow survive. The incident occurred amid ongoing protests and road blockades by Jumma Chhatra Janata, following the rape of a schoolgirl on September 23, which has already left three people dead and over 20 injured.
