Progressive students at Jahangirnagar University (JU) held a protest early Wednesday in response to the recent emergence of the university's unit of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, on campus. The demonstration followed an announcement made by the president and secretary of Shibir's JU unit on Tuesday night. The students began their march from the Battala area, proceeding through various campus roads and concluding at the Shaheed Minar, where they held a brief rally. Later that afternoon, Mizanur Rahman Azhari posted on social media, "JAHNAGIRNAGAR MUSLIM UNIVERSITY."
