JU first-year student found hanging from ceiling in hall-room

A first-year student of Jahangirnagar University was discovered dead in her dormitory room early Sunday (December 15). The deceased, Takia Tasnim Biva, 19, was a student of the Geography and Environment department (2023-2024 session). Her body was found around 5 a.m. in Room 7005 on the seventh floor of Bir Pratik Taraman Bibi Hall. Hall Provost Professor Abeda Sultana described the death as "unnatural" and stated that police are examining diaries and a mobile phone recovered from the room. Sub-Inspector Md Masud of Ashulia Police Station said, "We have gathered preliminary information about the deceased. An autopsy will be conducted with permission from the hall provost and her family. If permission is not granted, the body will be handed over to her family."
