A court has granted bail to Mahmudur Rahman, the convicted former acting editor of Amar Desh newspaper, in the case concerning the alleged conspiracy to abduct and murder Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the son of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her advisor on information technology. On Thursday (October 3), following a hearing, Judge Mohammad As Sams Jaglul Hossain of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court approved his bail. His lawyer, Tanvir Ahmed Al-Amin, stated, "We have appealed against the conviction of Mahmudur Rahman in this false case today, and the court accepted the appeal. After that, we applied for Mahmudur Rahman's bail, which the court granted, leaving no further legal obstacles to his release from prison."
