Former US President Joe Biden, aged 82, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, according to a statement released by his office on Sunday. The diagnosis was made on Friday, following a doctor’s consultation last week prompted by urinary symptoms.
Medical evaluations have confirmed that Biden is facing a more aggressive form of prostate cancer, with a Gleason score of 9 out of 10. This score indicates that the disease is considered "high-grade," suggesting the cancer cells are likely to grow and spread rapidly, as explained by Cancer Research UK.
At present, Biden and his family are carefully exploring possible treatment options. His office also mentioned that the cancer is hormone-sensitive, which typically allows for effective management through hormone-based therapies.
