A couple in Jessore suffered burn injuries last night when their five-year-old child, unaware of the danger, accidentally lit a gas lighter during an argument between the parents. The couple had poured kerosene on themselves after the dispute.
The injured, Hira Das, 38, and his wife Prabhati Das, 32, were rushed to Jessore General Hospital, according to Bablur Rahman Khan, officer-in-charge of Jhikargachha Police Station.
Locals reported that Hira and Prabhati, residents of Kauria Rajapur in Panisara Union of Jhikargachha upazila, frequently had heated arguments. Last night, during an argument in front of their house, they poured kerosene on themselves. The fire broke out when their young child accidentally lit a gas lighter.
