Newly released files on Jeffrey Epstein have ignited widespread anger across the Muslim world after claims emerged that he used fragments of the sacred Kaaba Kiswah as a carpet in his home.
The documents allege that pieces of the Kiswah—the black, gold-embroidered cloth that covers the Kaaba in Mecca—were sent to Epstein in 2017, despite his status as a convicted sex offender. The records suggest the fragments were obtained through contacts linked to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and transported to the U.S. via international air freight.
For Muslims, the Kiswah is among the most sacred objects in Islam, handled only under strict religious rules. Many have condemned reports that Epstein laid the cloth on the floor and walked on it, calling it a serious desecration of Islam’s holiest symbol.
