Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, has been provided with a personal gunman for his security, a senior official at the Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed on Tuesday, January 13.
Earlier, on Sunday, January 12, a letter was sent to the Police Commissioner requesting a gunman for Dr. Rahman.
A notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs stated that Dr. Rahman faces a high level of security risk or threat. Accordingly, it requested the deployment of a gunman and the posting of uniformed armed police at his residence to ensure his personal safety.
Previously, the Special Branch (SB) of police conducted a security risk assessment for Dr. Rahman and submitted a recommendation to the Ministry of Home Affairs. This recommendation formed the basis for the decision to assign him personal security.
