Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has denied reports that it has agreed to give the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) 10 seats.
Jamaat’s Naib Amir, Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, said that an agreement on the 11-party election seats will be finalised soon, and claims of allocating 10 seats to the NCP are “imaginary.”
He added that if his party comes to power, the government will be formed in coordination with all political parties.
Taher made these remarks on Wednesday morning during a press conference at Jamaat Amir’s office in the Basundhara residential area of Dhaka.
Earlier in the day, Taher met with Paola Pampaloni, Director of the Asia and Pacific Division of the European External Action Service, in a courtesy visit. Commenting on the EU meeting, he said the European Union has expressed that it will send the maximum number of observers for the upcoming elections, a move that Jamaat welcomed.
