The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Dhaka has taken a step to provide prayer mats to the accused in the court’s detention center to make it easier for them to perform their prayers.
On Wednesday (January 7) afternoon, Dhaka’s CJM Md. Sajjadur Rahman personally distributed the prayer mats at the detention center. During his visit, he spoke with the accused and checked on their well-being.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Md. Mahbubur Rahman and Senior Judicial Magistrate Tajul Islam Sohag were also present.
Sub-Inspector Humayun Kabir, in charge of the detention center, said that the mats will be given to the accused at prayer times to ensure their convenience. He added that the CJM inquired about the overall condition of the detainees and addressed necessary matters.
Officials and others have welcomed this initiative as a positive step in respecting the religious rights and humanitarian needs of the accused in custody.
