Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Tuesday expressed her desire to "open a new chapter" in the relations between Rome and Dhaka, emphasizing that Italians are true friends of Bangladesh. She made these remarks during a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on the sidelines of the annual UN General Assembly at the UN headquarters in New York. During the discussion, Professor Yunus shared a brief overview of the student-led mass uprising in Bangladesh, which he described as creating new opportunities and "resetting" the course of the nation. Prime Minister Meloni assured Italy’s support for the Yunus-led Interim Government in implementing crucial reforms across key sectors. "You can absolutely count on us," she affirmed. "Let’s work together to open a new page in our relationship," she added.
