Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, stated that it would have been more appropriate if the Awami League had been banned through mutual discussions and consensus among various political parties. He made this remark on Sunday evening while speaking to journalists following an international conference held at the CIRDAP auditorium in the capital.
Dr. Rahman also mentioned that Jamaat-e-Islami supports the decision made by the government's advisory council. He added that the party would issue an official statement after receiving the formal notification, which is expected to be released on Monday. Addressing the matter of the July certificate, he commented that if the government has the willingness, the certificate could be issued within 30 working days.
