On one of the war’s most heartbreaking days, an Israeli airstrike struck Khan Younis, killing nine of the ten children of Dr. Alaa al-Najjar—a pediatrician who had dedicated her life to treating Gaza’s children. Her only surviving child, 11-year-old Adam, sustained critical injuries, while her husband was also seriously wounded in the attack. The Israeli military stated that the strike targeted "suspects" operating near Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops and mentioned that they are currently reviewing reports regarding civilian casualties.
That same day, another tragedy unfolded as four-year-old Mustafa Muhammad Yasin died from severe malnutrition. His death served as a grim illustration of the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which has been under a strict Israeli blockade since March 2. The blockade has severely limited the flow of humanitarian aid, leading to a sharp increase in starvation-related deaths—most notably among children—as access to essential food and medical supplies remains critically low.
