Israeli sniper kills Palestinian child on second day of ceasefire

Israel violated a ceasefire with Hamas by killing a 15-year-old Palestinian, Zakaria Humaid Yahya Barbakh, in Rafah. Civil defense teams in Gaza have recovered over 200 bodies since the truce began on 19 January, amid widespread destruction and humanitarian challenges. Aid is slowly reaching Gaza, with the UAE providing food, medical supplies, and establishing hospitals and water facilities. Banks and telecommunications are being restored, while Qatar delivers fuel daily. The truce also involves a prisoner exchange, with Hamas set to release 33 captives as Israel frees 1,000 Palestinian prisoners. Despite these efforts, U.S. President Trump expressed doubts about the ceasefire’s longevity. Israel's assault on Gaza since October 2023 has caused over 47,000 deaths and widespread devastation.
