Independent journalists Zulkarnain Saer and Zia Hashem have been imprisoned on terrorism charges following a conviction under the New York State statute. According to Amnesty, Saer was sentenced to five years, while Hashem received one year after being found guilty of aiding Omar Qadry, the accused gunman.
