After BNP lawmakers took their oaths, Jamaat MPs, recognized as the main opposition, took theirs in the parliament building alongside independent MPs.
Ishraque Hossain, son of former Dhaka City Corporation mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka, and Rumeen Farhana, an independent candidate, left the hall after taking their oaths, while Jamaat MPs proceeded with a second oath as members of the Constitution Reform Council.
The oath for all lawmakers elected in the 13th Parliamentary Election on February 12 was administered by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin.
