BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has stated that the interim government must remain neutral, emphasizing that it is not their responsibility to work in favor of any particular political party. If the interim government acts with partiality, he warned that the people of the country will not accept it.
He made these remarks on Sunday (May 25) while paying tribute to the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on his 126th birth anniversary at Dhaka University.
Rizvi expressed concern that certain advisors are playing a controversial role by attempting to deepen the ongoing political crisis. He warned that if these advisors overstep their responsibilities and attempt to implement any hidden agenda, the BNP will strongly protest. He further remarked that those who have aligned themselves with fascist ideologies are still waiting on the sidelines. At this time, he also called for essential reforms to be carried out swiftly and for the national elections to be held without delay.
Speaking about Kazi Nazrul Islam, Rizvi said that generations have continued to learn from his writings, songs, and literary works. He mentioned that the poet inspired not only the July Movement but also the political struggles of the past 15 years. According to him, Nazrul gave the strength to endure countless hardships and blows. He taught the people to break free from all forms of bondage and played a significant role in shaping both national and personal ideals. For these reasons, Rizvi affirmed, Nazrul remains deeply relevant even today.
