BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman has said that if the BNP comes to power, the country will be built in line with the ideals and justice of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He made the statement while speaking at a public rally in Sylhet on Thursday (22 January), marking the first day of the party’s election campaign.
In his speech, Tarique Rahman alleged that over the last 15–16 years, public money has been looted and sent abroad in the name of development. He also claimed that people’s voting rights were taken away through dummy elections and night-time voting, adding that the BNP wants to bring change to this situation.
He further said that if the BNP forms the government, it will stand beside farmers across the country and restart canal excavation programs nationwide.
Tarique Rahman reached the public rally at the Aliya Madrasa playground in Sylhet around 12:30 pm.
Earlier, on Wednesday (21 January) at around 8:00 pm, he arrived at Osmani International Airport with his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, where local BNP leaders and activists warmly welcomed them.
