A 29-year-old man in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, has been accused of repeatedly raping and physically assaulting his 22-year-old sister. The alleged motive was his disapproval of her three-year consensual relationship.
According to police, the accused, who is married and works as a driver, used knowledge of his sister's relationship to blackmail and intimidate her. The victim reported that he raped her twice and, during the second assault, burned her thigh with a lit cigarette.
After the second attack, the woman contacted a state women's helpline, which led to the police filing a formal complaint against her brother.
