A court in India’s Madhya Pradesh state has ruled that the historic Kamal Maula Mosque site in Dhar is, in fact, a Hindu temple dedicated to a goddess. The decision comes amid a long-standing dispute over the Bhojshala complex, which has been claimed by both Hindu and Muslim groups for decades.
Following the verdict, Hindu devotees gathered at the site and performed religious rituals, while Muslim prayers were restricted at the monument. The ruling has further heightened tensions over the site’s religious heritage and ownership, with members of the Muslim community stating that they will challenge the decision in the Supreme Court.
