Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that India does not support any specific political party in Bangladesh, emphasizing that the country’s friendship lies with the people of Bangladesh rather than with any individual or political organization. He made these remarks during a meeting with Bangladesh's Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC summit held in Bangkok.
During the discussion, Prime Minister Modi underscored the deep-rooted historical ties between India and Bangladesh and reaffirmed India’s unwavering support for a democratic, inclusive, and progressive Bangladesh. The two leaders also addressed recent tensions triggered by comments on social media. They both agreed on the need for cooperation to prevent incidents such as border killings.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with mutual expressions of respect and a shared commitment to strengthening peace, fostering development, and deepening the relationship between the two neighboring countries.
