The messages reportedly included derogatory remarks about the teacher’s faith and family members.
Authorities said the teacher filed a formal complaint, prompting an investigation that led to the cleric’s arrest. Police added that the accused had a significant online following and used social media platforms to repeatedly target the teacher, causing distress and fear.
The cleric has been booked under multiple sections of Indian law related to harassment, intimidation, and misuse of digital platforms. Officials said further investigation is underway to determine whether others were involved and to examine additional online activity linked to the case.
