In an exclusive interview with Stream Editor-in-Chief Golam Iftekhar Mahmud on Wednesday, Nahid Islam, the convener of the youth-led National Citizen Party (NCP), announced that he would step away from politics if his party fails to form a government within the next ten years.
“We’ve set a ten-year target. Within this time, we’re confident that we’ll form a government,” Nahid stated, underscoring the NCP’s focus on long-term vision and empowering citizens.
When asked why the NCP isn’t pursuing power right away, he explained, “This is my personal target. I want to build the NCP into a strong, credible political party that can both govern effectively and empower people within ten years. Many parties have taken decades and still fallen short, while others rose fast but couldn’t sustain their momentum.”
