Uncertainty has resurfaced over Bangladesh’s participation in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) that if Bangladesh maintains its stance of refusing to travel to India to play its matches, the team could be dropped from the tournament and replaced by another side, according to cricket website Cricinfo.
The matter was reportedly put to a vote at an ICC board meeting, where a majority of members supported the option of including a replacement team. Following this, the ICC has given the BCB one more day to clearly communicate its final position on playing in India.
The ICC has also asked the BCB to discuss the issue with the Bangladesh government and convey a clear decision. If no positive response is received within the stipulated time, the decision to exclude Bangladesh may be implemented.
Meanwhile, discussions are underway regarding a potential replacement. Cricinfo reports that Scotland could be included in Group C in place of Bangladesh if the latter is withdrawn.
