The ICC has issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity during the Gaza conflict. Initially kept secret to safeguard witnesses and the investigation, the warrants were later revealed to highlight ongoing violations and inform victims. Netanyahu and Gallant are charged with crimes committed between October 8, 2023, and May 20, 2024. Prosecutor Karim Khan had also pursued warrants for other Hamas leaders but withdrew the request for Ismail Haniyeh after his death in Tehran on July 31. Israel claims Mohammed Deif was killed in Gaza on July 13, a claim Hamas disputes.
