Brigadier General (Retd.) Abdullahil Aman Azmi, who was freed on August 6 last year after spending eight years in captivity, shared his experience of imprisonment in a Facebook post on Saturday, January 16. In the post, he revealed that during his confinement, he was held in a cell where the toilet was located 45-50 steps away. He claimed that he was escorted to the toilet with his hands cuffed, eyes blindfolded, and a black hood covering his head and neck. Azmi stated, "In 2,908 days, my eyes and hands were bound nearly 41,000 times."
Aman Azmi was reportedly abducted from his residence in Dhaka’s Moghbazar area on August 22, 2016, by individuals who claimed to be law enforcement officers, according to Jamaat-e-Islami. He remained missing until his release on August 6, 2024. In his post, Azmi referenced a verse, quoting, "Allah has said, 'I have forbidden oppression.' What do you think will be the fate of these oppressors in the hereafter?"
