Imran Tahir, the seasoned South African leg-spinner, has accused Rangpur Riders of not fulfilling their financial commitments from the 2023 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Ahead of a Global T20 match on 4 December, Tahir expressed frustration over not receiving the full payment as per his contract with Rangpur. He revealed his determination to perform against them, citing the unpaid dues as added motivation. Rangpur Riders have not responded to the accusations. Despite this controversy, Rangpur secured a 15-run victory over Guyana Amazon Warriors in the tournament's opening match. Rangpur posted 117 runs and then restricted Guyana to 102 runs, with a disciplined bowling performance led by captain Nurul Hasan Sohan.
