Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, stated, "I refrain from repeatedly labeling them as fascism or fascists, as they are also part of our family." He made these comments on Wednesday (November 13) during a discussion with leaders of the British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BBCCI) at a local venue in London. As the chief guest of the event, which was chaired by BBCCI President Rafiq Hayder, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman clarified, "I am not a fundamentalist Muslim, nor do I consider myself a fundamentalist. Fundamentalism is not inherently negative; just as a tree requires roots to thrive, we need foundational values. However, I reject the stigma often linked to the term fundamentalism. I am not that kind of fundamentalist. Our goal is to create a united Bangladesh. I avoid labeling others as fascists because they are part of our political and societal family."
