Education Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud stated that students are uncertain about when they will receive all the new textbooks for the current academic year. Speaking on Tuesday (January 7) after the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement meeting at the Secretariat, he addressed the issue.
The adviser explained that textbooks were often not fully distributed before March in previous years. He said, “The book printing process started late due to revisions in the textbooks, updates to the syllabus and curriculum, and an increased number of books. Unlike before, no books are being printed abroad. This is the first time we are relying entirely on domestic capacity, which is causing delays.”
He added, “Even after retrieving all the art paper from warehouses, there remains a shortage. However, shipments of art paper have already departed from abroad.”
When asked about the timeline for book distribution, the education adviser responded, “I do not know exactly when all students will receive their books.”
