Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid, the Additional Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police and the previous Chief of the Detective Branch, has vanished from sight since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on 5 August. His current whereabouts remain unknown, despite rumours suggesting he is in the United States. These rumours have not been verified. This well-known police officer spoke on the Nagorik TV YouTube channel from an undisclosed location. He talked about a variety of subjects, such as his involvement in putting an end to the student-public uprising. He said that he is being used as a scapegoat and that a plot is being developed against him. Speaking to a question regarding Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister, putting everyone in jeopardy, Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid replied, "I can't talk about that. I'm not a big person. Neither the DMP nor the police are led by me. There's a plot hatched against me. They are using me as a scapegoat. The only reason I'm being mentioned is because I helped folks whenever there was a crime. People went to the Detective Branch (DB) rather than the police station when they had problems. I didn't hurt anyone while I worked at DB; instead, I helped others." He answered, "I have completed many important tasks, but I didn't receive any rewards," in response to another query. I laboured because I felt obligated to my conscience."
