On Saturday, Senior Catholic Church leaders, Cardinal Silvano Maria Tomasi and Cardinal Jacob Koovakad, met with Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus following the Funeral Mass of Pope Francis. During their conversation, Dr. Yunus expressed admiration for the late Pope, calling him “an amazing human being.”
Dr. Yunus recalled how he had written about the need for the Vatican to reform its bank, aiming to make it more accessible and beneficial for the poor. Despite being critical of the bank's performance and the controversies surrounding it, the Pope decided to publish the entire letter, a gesture that Dr. Yunus appreciated deeply.
“I am a Muslim,” Professor Yunus remarked. “Yet, Pope Francis never objected to his name being used alongside someone from a different faith. He never treated me as an outsider,” he reflected, recalling his profound memories of the late Pope.
