Many stray dogs in Mymensingh city, especially those with puppies, struggle during winter nights. In response, houses have been built for them in various areas like Atul Chakraborty Road, Mrityunjay School, Vidyamayi School, and Amlapara. These shelters, established by the literary organization Parampara, also provide food for the dogs. A sign in front of the houses urges people to care for their “first friend.” On Tuesday, Firoza Khatun, an athlete and animal lover, inaugurated one shelter and fed the dogs. The shelters aim to protect dogs, particularly those with puppies, from the harsh cold. Poet Ashiq Akbar and Parampara’s coordinator, Shamim Ashraf, emphasized the importance of supporting these animals during winter.
