A 30-year-old woman suffering from multiple health issues, including human metapneumovirus (HMPV), passed away yesterday at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Mohakhali, Dhaka.
The deceased, Sanjida Akhter, died around 6:00 pm, confirmed Dr. Ariful Bashar, a senior consultant at the hospital, speaking to The Daily Star this morning.
"Her death was not solely due to the HMPV infection. She had several underlying conditions, including obesity, kidney problems, and lung complications detected through X-rays," Dr. Bashar stated.
Sanjida's passing follows the recent confirmation of the first HMPV case in Bangladesh this year.
